Opening Reception: Thursday, October 19, 5p to 8p
BARNWOOD Opening Party: Friday, October 20, 7p to 10p
Submission Deadline: Friday, September 15, 2023
Entries received after this date will be considered for the next BARNWOOD exhibition.
Key Details for Submitting Artists
This is an Open Call.
Artists 18 years and older are invited to submit up to 10 works of original art for consideration by the event producers. All works must be for sale.
All entries will be informed by Friday September 22, 2023 if their work has been accepted to BARNWOOD Fall 2023.
All media will be considered and works should focus on the male form.
- As the name of the event implies, works ranging from nude to lewd are expected and variety in the subject matter is encouraged when possible.
- Preference will be given to exhibiting original work. Reproductions will be considered but will likely be made available for sale in the BARNWOOD Marketplace instead of being included in the main exhibition.
- Work must be submitted by the artist.
- Work must not have been exhibited at a previous edition of BARNWOOD.
Accepted work must be professionally presented.
- All accepted work must be wired and ready to hang or display as most appropriate. Plastic sleeves for sketches and other works are acceptable.
- The maximum (framed) width is 38 inches, maximum height is 50 inches.
- 3D work must fit through a standard doorway (30 inches wide x 6 feet high). All that said, if your work falls outside these general guidelines, please reach out.
Commission
Pink Stallion Events takes a 30% commission on all sales.
Payment
Pink Stallion Events will pay artists for all works sold within 7 days of the end of the event. Payment will be made via PayPal, Venmo or check.
Presentation + Promotion
All artwork will be hung in the gallery’s physical space. The event producers retain the right to share images of all accepted artwork on digital and printed materials in order to promote the show. The artist will be credited by name and/or social media handle in all instances.
Pink Stallion will promote BARNWOOD via online and print media and online event scheduling. The show will also be promoted through Pink Stallion and Big Gay Hudson Valley’s digital channels. Featured artists are encouraged to tag @PinkStallionEvents @BigGayHudsonValley and #BarnwoodArtShow in all social media posts about their participation in the event.
Before the Show: Delivery of Artwork
All work must be delivered to the BARNWOOD producers by Sunday October 8, 2023.
- In-Person Delivery: The producer will coordinate with you directly on timing for a drop-off.
- Shipping: Work can be mailed to 307 Union Center Road, Ulster Park, NY 12487. It is recommended that you insure and/or track your shipment at your own discretion. If you are shipping your artwork, you must include prepaid return shipping and reusable packaging to return any unsold work.
- New York City Pickup Day: A New York City pickup day will be designated after the submission period closes. Artists based in the area can coordinate with BARNWOOD’s producers to hand off their work in person.
All works must be clearly labeled with:
- The artist name and title somewhere on the backside of the piece
- Orientation of artwork should be indicated if not obvious
- The sale price of the work
After the Show: Returning Artwork
Any unsold work will be returned to you after the show. You can pick up in person at the event venue on Sunday, October 22 from 4p to 6p. Any item left longer than 30 days after the last pick-up date will be considered forfeit by the owner and property of Pink Stallion Events.
Shipped work will be remitted back using the provided shipping materials and postmarked by November 1, 2023.
Liability
Pink Stallion Events and all BARNWOOD event affiliates will not be responsible individually or collectively for damage or loss, regardless of the cause, to any artwork submitted under this agreement for exhibition and or sale as part of BARNWOOD. Artist releases from all liability with respect to loss or damage to the artist’s works of art. It is suggested that artists carry their own insurance. Artists give permission for their work to be photographed for promotional purposes and do not hold the gallery responsible for any unauthorized photography.
